Small Groups
At Christ City Church, small group gatherings are central to the life of our body and our calling to make disciples. In small groups, we build meaningful relationships by praying for each other, supporting one another, and sharing our faith journeys together.
Join a small group
Small groups are one of our core vehicles for discipleship and community. Groups meet throughout the week and city to pray, play, and encourage one another. Browse our small group directory to find a location and day of the week that work for you, and email a leader to get connected!

We are committed to keeping our children safe and healthy as we teach them about the love of God and how to love others. Each Kids City volunteer must pass a background screening, and we require parents to sign their children in and out using a secure process.
Teen City (ages 12-19) currently meets on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month after church to explore together questions of faith, identity, belonging, and purpose. Each Teen City volunteer must pass a background screening.

Join a Ministry Team
Ministry Teams are a vital part of communal life at Christ City Church. Ministry Teams assist in the execution of our Sunday services, they are instrumental in the discipleship of our children and teens, and they are vital to much of the administration of the church. At Christ City Church, ministry teams are made up of ‘us’: everyone is welcome to serve and everyone is needed. Without you, we aren’t as strong or vibrant as we could be. Your involvement makes the work of ministry richer and more reflective of
God’s kingdom.
We have a variety of ministry teams in need of volunteers to share their time, energy, and talents on Sundays and throughout the week.
Learn about our teams
-
Those serving on the Hospitality Team lead the church in cultivating an environment of welcome during our Sunday gatherings. This includes orienting new visitors, providing a friendly presence as people enter the building, and preparing the space by setting out refreshments, wiping down chairs, etc.
-
Kids & Teen City volunteers are instrumental in the discipleship of our children and young people, providing a community of care each week through age- and culturally-appropriate lessons and activities about God’s love and what it means to follow Jesus.
-
Members of the Prayer Team provide prayer coverage ahead of the Sunday service each week and are available to pray with people during the service. Additionally, members of the prayer team commit to pray each week for the requests that are shared with the church on Sundays and through the week.
-
Members of the Production team cultivate an atmosphere of worship each Sunday. Volunteers are trained in basic audio and visual engineering in order to set up and run the soundboard and slides. No prior experience needed.
-
Small groups are central to the life of our church. Small group leaders guide discussions, check in on their members, and foster a spirit of community and discipleship within their groups. If you are interested in leading a small group, being an apprentice in an existing small group, or hosting a group at your home, email Pastor Andrea.
-
Each week, members of the Stage Crew help transform a school cafeteria into a spiritual sanctuary and then back again. That work involves setting up and taking down tables, chairs, signs, and pipe and drape.
-
Singers, musicians, writers, poets, and artists assist in leading Christ City Church in our regular rhythm of gathered worship. Team members find ways for the community to encounter and engage with God through music, words, and other creative means.
Serve the Community
Place matters. Because Jesus took on flesh and blood, lived in a neighborhood and identified with a people, we also root ourselves in neighborhoods and identify with people. Our place is Washington, DC. While many come to this city to consume it and to use it, we want to be among those who love it.
As a community of faith, we are propelled into a beautiful, yet broken world as those called to serve and to share, to learn and to teach, to preach, and to pray.
For Christ City Church, that gets expressed practically as we seek justice, show compassion to those experiencing poverty, embody hospitality, care for our neighbors and neighborhoods, and invite others to follow the simple ways of Jesus. Our feeble efforts at serving our world are, above all, rooted and grounded in love.
On any given day you’ll find members of Christ City Church engaged in urban education, refugee resettlement, mentoring, community development, feeding the hungry, serving on nonprofit boards, coaching, meeting new neighbors, leading the local PTA meeting, raising money for children orphaned by violence, advocating for affordable housing, protesting racial violence and demanding equity, and praying for God’s kingdom to come. All of this and more in an attempt to live out the great commandments and great commission of Jesus.
